Accessibility Statement

Intelligena LLC, a California limited liability company wants Practiceful to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, magnification, speech input, keyboard-only navigation or other assistive technology.

1. The standard we build to

We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, at conformance level AA. That is the level referenced by Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, by the Americans with Disabilities Act in practice, and by the great majority of procurement requirements we are asked to meet.

2. Where we actually stand

We say this plainly because a claim of full conformance is a representation, and an unmeasured one is worth less than an honest assessment. What we do instead:

• every form control has an associated label, and errors are announced next to the control that caused them;
• interactive controls are reachable and operable by keyboard, in a sensible order, and dialogs take and return focus;
• text and essential interface elements are checked against the contrast ratios WCAG requires — including in their hover and focus states, which is where contrast checks are most often skipped;
• colour is never the only means of conveying information;
• motion is reduced where a visitor’s system asks for that.

3. Known limitations

These are the areas we know fall short. The list is maintained rather than decorative — if something you rely on is not here, it is because we do not know about it, which is what Section 5 is for.

• Third-party embedded components. Payment entry, the form builder and some charting are provided by third parties, and their accessibility is theirs. We choose vendors with this in mind and raise defects with them, but we do not control their code.
• Charts and analytics. Data visualisations carry text alternatives and underlying figures where we can provide them; some do not yet.
• Content you author. Course material, documents, website pages and images uploaded through the Service are authored by our customers, and their accessibility — alternative text in particular — is the author’s.
• Generated documents. PDFs produced by the Service are not yet fully tagged for assistive technology. Where you need an accessible version of a document, ask us.

4. If you are a covered provider

Where you are subject to Section 1557, to the Americans with Disabilities Act, or to a comparable obligation, you remain responsible for the accessibility of the services you deliver, including the content you author here and any website you publish with the Service. This statement describes our product; it does not discharge your duty, and no vendor’s statement can. We will work with you in good faith on any barrier you report to us in what we provide, and we will tell you honestly where a fix is not ours to make.

5. Tell us about a barrier

If you cannot do something here because of a barrier — or if you need information in a different format — write to support@practiceful.com and say what you were trying to do, what happened, and what assistive technology you were using if any. We will acknowledge within five business days, tell you what we can do and by when, and offer a way to get the task done in the meantime.

A barrier report is not a complaint we have to be persuaded of. It is the only way we learn about the things this page does not list.

6. Review

We review this statement at least every twelve months, and whenever a significant change is made to the interface. The version and date at the top of this page record when it last changed.
